About us

Shakos is the baby of a shared passion between two friends. Partners and opponents for many years, it is slowly and naturally that they have seen their playing time decline in favour of creation.

Shakos is a will to promote and make discover historic gaming – the war game or wargame in English – to a wider public.

A precise historical context, efficient rules, dynamic systems, limited game time, quality material, here are the objectives that the two Shakos friends have set to themselves.

Taking advantage of his experience as an author for Vae Victis, a magazine dedicated to these games, Denis SAUVAGE proposed a first Napoleon 1806 system. All the work of Julien BUSSON, his partner, was to refine the rules so that the game respects the specifications and goals of Shakos. The first positive feedback has encouraged the team to continue the adventure to give back its letters of nobility to historical gaming.

But Shakos is more than just the story of two people having something in common. It is also a great collective epic carried by all the people who have supported us since the beginning, Nicolas TREIL for his great illustrations, the playtesters, the voluntary contributions for the translations, the proofreadings, the videos, the encouragement, the official website that you are discovering, but also all those who, by their financial participation from the very beginning, made this adventure possible.

Shakos, History for all !
